Red Ribbon Week! Tuesday : Super Hero Day!








In preparation for their field trip production of Willy Wonka, Miss Elliott’s class has been doing a novel study of Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” The students have been loving all of the fun, imagination, adventures, and CHOCOLATE that this book brings! After reaching chapter 11, students enjoyed their very own “Wonka” bars…one containing a real golden ticket!

Mrs. Vavalle’s class has been studying the life cycles of pumpkins in Science. Today the students had to read an article with a partner and highlight their text evidence for each question. These kiddos are pumpkin experts now!!


The RGS Student Council has been making preparations for Red Ribbon Week which begins Monday, October 23!


On Monday Mrs. G got the 2nd graders into the Halloween spirit by reading the story Sammy's Spooktacular Halloween. This story was written by Mrs. G's nephew.

The students in Mrs. Lavelle's class are learning about multiplication by making arrays. Today they used pumpkin candy to make their own pumpkin patch arrays.

3rd Grade worked with Red Cross volunteers today. The Pillowcase Project is a preparedness education program for grades 3-5 that teaches students about personal and family preparedness and safety skills, local hazards, and basic coping skills.

You may already have heard the news that FEMA and FCC will be conducting a Nationwide Emergency Alert Test on Wednesday. This test is conducted at the Federal level, but we would like our community to be informed.
Date and Time: Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 1:20 pm CDT
"In case the Oct. 4 test is postponed due to widespread severe weather or other significant events, the back-up testing date is Oct. 11."
What to expect:
This test will be transmitted to cell phones and likely sound similar to an Amber Alert or National Weather Service Severe Weather Alert.
